Mariel is a Mexican-American artist based in Vancouver, WA. She was born in El Paso, Texas in 1988, but as a child moved to the the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico, where she grew up. Mariel began to draw from a very young age and developed her skills with practice over the years, unaware that she would devote herself to painting.

In 2008, she left her hometown to begin her university studies in Monterrey, Nuevo León, but soon realized that it was not the path for her, and abandoned the program to pursue her passion: painting. She experimented with new techniques and finessed her skills, turning what seemed to be her hobby into a full-time profession. Since then, Mariel has positioned herself as an international artist, selling her artwork to private collectors in both Mexico and the United States.

In 2018, Mariel moved to Seattle, WA, where she enrolled in courses at GAGE Academy Of Art to continue developing new techniques in painting. As an emerging artist, she looks to become more actively involved in the art scene in Washington and in the U.S. at large. To this day, she makes art from her nature-bound studio in Vancouver, WA.
